The Cycle Effect is piloting a Girls Mountain bike program in Routt County for six weeks during June and July. Their mission is to empower young women through mountain biking to build brighter futures and build stronger communities. Alongside mountain biking, they weave mentorship lessons and topics to support each girl in the program.
How: They provide bikes, helmets, and coaches to athletes in the program for use during each session.
Eligible students: Girls in 5th through 12th grade. Focusing on serving girls that identify as a minority and that may not otherwise have access to the sport of mountain biking.
Dates: June 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, July, 1, 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29. Two sessions each day, 10:30 AM – 12 PM or 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Different athletes in each.
Location: Start and end at a parking area at Howelsen Hill.
Cost: $20 for all six weeks. (scholarships available as well)
