SUMMARY:Ride the Cog (Hayden)
DESCRIPTION:RIDE THE COG\nRegister today for the 2021 Ride the Cog event\, benefitting the Hayden Heritage Center Museum\, the Leslie Memorial Research Library\, and the Historic Hayden Granary! \nRide the Cog gravel routes\nYou’ll have the choice between four different gravel routes. Each of the rides are just $40 for registration until Labor Day! After Labor Day\, there will be price increases\, so go ahead and get in soon with one of these four routes: \n20-mile NEW Breeze Basin Breezer: 19.1 miles\, dirt and paved\, for someone who wants a shorter ride with some great scenery south of Hayden. Click here to see the map and stats about the 20-mile route. \n26.5-mile Mud Ride: 26.5 miles mostly unmaintained gravel and dirt roads with up to a 13% grade. Click here to see the map and stats about the 26.5-mile route. \n31-mile Gravel Grinder: 31 miles paved and maintained gravel roads with up to a 9.8% grade. Click here to see the map and stats about the 31-mile route. \n43-mile Combined Ride: For the truly hearty rider– 43 miles combining the best of both the Gravel Grinder and Mud Ride with up to 11.5% grades. Click here to see the map and stats about the 43-mile route. \n \n \nThe beneficiary\nWelcome to the Hayden Heritage Center! Located in the historic Moffat Railroad Depot Building since 1972\, the Museum (established in 1964) has exhibits on local area history from cowboying and homesteading to coal mining and farming. Experience the authenticity of the homesteaders and the lives they carved out in this rugged corner of Northwest Colorado. \n \nThe Museum is home to the Leslie Memorial Research Library\, a fantastic resource for research whether it is subject based or genealogical. We have numerous books on local and regional history\, as well as various subjects including Railroad\, Quarter Horse Collection\,  out of print books\, unpublished manuscripts\, family files as well as subject catalogue files and more! You can also access the Museum collection database and look at the Museums wonderful collection of photos at one of the two public computer stations (with internet access) in the research library\, which is located conveniently on the first floor.  \nThe Museum has a gift shop with books on local\, regional and Colorado history with children’s books and toys as well as unique gifts. \nThe Hayden Granary is the only existing grain elevator in Routt County. In its heyday\, the elevator bolstered the local agricultural economy\, providing many services and goods to area farmers. Today the grain elevator remains as an important representation of the agricultural\, economic and engineering history of early twentieth-century Routt County. As one of the last remaining wooden bin elevators on the western slope of Colorado\, the agricultural heritage of the facility demonstrates the importance of farming and ranching within the Yampa Valley. With concern towards the uncertainty of the Granary’s future\, the Delaney family purchased the Granary and Yampa Valley Feeds in December 2008 and pursued local\, state and national historic registration status to officially recognize the importance of the facility. “Historic Hayden Granary Inc.” was formed in the Fall of 2019 and the Trustees intend to activate the space through community gatherings\, art\, food\, beverage and events as a way to share the extraordinary history along with preserving it for future generations. \nYour ride registration helps support the museum and granary in their continuing mission to preserve the history of Routt County and Hayden\, Colorado \nLearn more about Ride the Cog 2021 here!

SUMMARY:Token Tuesday at Mountain Tap!
DESCRIPTION:Drop your token in the bucket to benefit RCR! \nAs a token of Mountain Tap’s appreciation for all that the nonprofit organizations do in our community… each Tuesday is Token Tuesday! It’s their guests’ opportunity to purchase and enjoy a beer\, then DO GOOD for the community. \nEach month Mountain Tap selects four local nonprofit organizations to support. On Token Tuesday\, each guest receives a wooden token for every beer they purchase. Before leaving Mountain Tap Brewery\, they can select which of the four organizations they want to support by depositing their token in that organization’s Token Tuesday box. At the end of the month\, Mountain Tap Brewery empties the boxes\, adds up the tokens for each organization and presents each one with $1 for every token they received. Whichever organization collects the most tokens throughout the month is dubbed “King of the Mountain Tap” and gets to stay on as a beneficiary for one more month.

SUMMARY:Town Challenge Race Series - FREE Community Ride + BBQ + Awards
DESCRIPTION:2021 TOWN CHALLENGE RACE SCHEDULE\n\n\n\nJUNE 2 – Marabou XC | Marabou Ranch \n \nJUNE 16 – Emerald Endurance | Emerald Mountain \n \nJULY 14 – Mt. Werner Madness | Mount Werner/Steamboat Resort \n \nAUGUST 11 – Buff Pass Hill Climb (Permit Pending) | Buffalo Pass \n \nAUGUST 18 – FREE Community Ride – BBQ – Awards | Howelsen Hill \n\n\n\n\n\n2021 DIVISION DESCRIPTIONS\n\n\n\nNew to the Town Challenge MTB Race Series and curious about what division to register for? Check out the division overviews below to find a race category that best fits your riding style and distance preferences. \n \nBEGINNER/NOVICE: You are a Beginner/Novice if you love riding your bike but the idea of racing may be intimidating or nerve-wracking. You’re a Beginner/Novice if you are looking for a fun outlet to push yourself a little faster or further than usual\, but aren’t ready for the stress or physical exertion of a longer race. Beginner/Novice racers are here for a fun time\, not necessarily a fast time! \n\n1 / 5 Spandex Rating \n \nSPORT: The Sport division encapsulates the broadest category of racer. Typically\, if you have to ask which category you should enter\, it’s likely to be Sport. Sport riders are challenging to define\, but the majority rock baggy shorts\, may race and ride in flat pedals\, and would win the “most likely to be caught enjoying a beverage in the parking lot post ride” award. Maybe you raced Beginner/Novice last year and are ready for a bigger challenge. Perhaps you have never raced\, but ride frequently and are comfortable on your mountain bike in group settings. Maybe you are not new to racing but aren’t feeling the extra few miles of the Expert/Pro/Open course or want to save your legs for volleyball league. \n \n2.5 / 5 Spandex Rating \n \nEXPERT: You are an Expert if you have been riding/racing for a while and want to push yourself and race against similarly abled riders. You’re an Expert if you are comfortable in a race setting passing and being passed. You are an Expert if you ride for fun but also incorporate a lot of training into your weekly routine. You’re probably an Expert if you rock clipless pedals (don’t worry\, we see you speedy flat peddlers)\, and the likelihood is high that you shave your stems and rock Spandex on race day. \n \n3.5-4 / 5 Spandex Rating \n \nSingle Speed: This division typically takes off with the Experts\, but is in a league of their own. Single Speeders don’t fit into a single box\, but many agree that they are gluttons for punishment. Single Speed racers may show up in full Spandex\, but are more likely to race in cut of jorts and may\, or may not\, rock a handlebar mustache. Gearless but not fearless\, Single Speeders at their core are the true essence of mountain biking. \n \n2.5-3.5 / 5 Spandex Rating \n \nPRO/OPEN: If you are a Pro/Open racer\, your probably not looking at the definition for which category you should enter. You rock full Spandex on race day (90% likely to be Steamboat Velo)\, probably shave your stems\, and it’s safe to bet you don’t ride in anything except clipless pedals. You train hard and you race harder. \n \n5 / 5 Spandex Rating \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n© 2021 by City of Steamboat Springs Parks & Recreation

SUMMARY:SBT GRVL
DESCRIPTION:VOLUNTEER with RCR at the beer + Tito’s tents! – https://signup.com/go/EWBGuNf \nSBT GRVL is a world-class gravel race experience held on the greatest gravel roads on Earth in and around the magnificent Steamboat Springs\, CO. The unique combination of the quiet roads surrounding a thriving resort town create a setting for an incredible gravel bike race. With the fundamental goal of inclusiveness\, we want to focus not only on the race\, but a fantastic weekend away with family and friends. The beauty of the mountains (not to mention the camaraderie with fellow cyclists) as well as the basic challenge of covering these gravel roads on two wheels is something that will not soon be forgotten. \nThe 2021 event is SOLD OUT but you can volunteer in 2021 to gain all the good feelings + access priority registration in 2022. SUMMARY:Town Challenge Race Series - Buff Pass Hill Climb
SUMMARY:Tour de Steamboat
DESCRIPTION:The Tour de Steamboat is an annual bicycle event that brings together 1\,200 cyclists for a one-day ride through beautiful Northwest Colorado. We host three different road ride routes—26\, 46\, and 66. We also host 2 gravel routes\, a 100 mile\, and a new 50 Mile route. See our Routes page for more details. There is something for riders of all ages and abilities. We are a non-competitive event\, and participants are encouraged to ride at their own pace and enjoy the majestic scenery in our part of the world! We offer superb aid stations\, support\, and end of the ride barbecue and craft beer garden. \nAll proceeds from the Tour de Steamboat go directly to our beneficiary non-profits. \nThe Tour de Steamboat is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit entity with its entire focus on raising money for local\, Routt County community non-profit organizations. These beneficiary agencies provide staff to plan and market the event\, implement additional fundraising mechanisms\, and assist with event operations. The beneficiaries are also committed to paying it forward. Every year\, the beneficiary non-profits choose other local beneficiary organizations to receive a portion of the event proceeds. Last year\, the Tour de Steamboat beneficiaries granted $5\,000 from the proceeds of the event between four other local organizations: SOROCO Preschool for playground equipment\, The Town of Oak Creek for school-aged children programming and the Steamboat Springs Community Assistance Fund critical incident support service.
