Larry Johnson Scholarship
Larry Johnson was one of the original members of Routt County Riders. He was a tremendous supporter of Youth Cycling initatives coaching young riders and taking them to events such as State Championships.
Routt County Riders committed to keeping Larry Johnson’s dream alive by creating this scholarship fund in 2005. Many people miss Larry and what he brought to cycling, but his vision lives on in Steamboat Springs today.
Larry Johnson was a cycling enthusiast with a passion for youth cycling. Throughout his adult life Larry was instrumental in encouraging young athletes to participate in competitive cycling, and he often funded junior cycling adventures. His dream was to involve youth in the sport of cycling and install a life-long passion of riding bikes.
This financial assistance can support youths whom are interested in cycling and wish to commit themselves to the sport. The fund has supported young riders in Routt County to enter the Steamboat Springs Town Challenge Mountain Bike Series, the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Cycling Team.
